Researchers found that women with myasthenia gravis (MG) experience a poorer quality of life and longer delays for a diagnosis compared to men, potentially leading to later treatment starts and greater disease severity. Additionally, overweight patients with MG were found to have poorer quality of life. The researchers suggest that quicker diagnoses and consideration of dietary changes could improve patient outcomes. The findings indicate a need for doctors to consider sex differences and the impact of BMI in MG treatment, as well as informing patients about the effects of high BMI on disease-specific quality of life.
