Researchers of a recent Journal of Clinical Neuroscience study reported lower vitamin D levels in patients with neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) compared with healthy individuals, suggesting a possible connection between vitamin D deficiency and NMOSD. Researchers of the study, involving 794 participants, identified data collection challenges and advocated for additional research in diverse regions and NMOSD subgroups to determine if vitamin D deficiency contributes to or results from NMOSD.
