A meta-analysis of fifteen studies with 1,274 patients with psoriasis and 775 controls revealed that psoriasis significantly affects sleep quality. Patients with psoriasis showed worse sleep quality than controls, with higher Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index scores and increased risk of sleep disturbance. The impact on sleep was greater in patients with psoriatic arthritis, more severe psoriasis, shorter disease duration, and younger age. These patients also had higher levels of insomnia severity, depression, and were more prone to restless legs syndrome. Researchers concluded that psoriasis is associated with poor sleep quality, higher risks of sleep disturbances, insomnia, depression, and restless legs syndrome, especially in certain subgroups.
