As a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Associate, you may have noticed that there are fewer professional development opportunities compared to your physician counterparts. POCN conducted a survey among our PA/NP community members and found that NPs and PAs to build a network of other PA/NP peers are less prone to stress and burnout – and are afforded greater professional opportunities.
The goals of our NP/PA mentees and students from PA/NP programs include: professional insights from more seasoned professionals, learning specialty career paths, and creating a strong peer community.
NP and PA Mentors bring valuable experience and knowledge from various backgrounds, such as:
- Private Practice
- Clinical & Research Positions
- Academic Appointments
- Practice Specialties
Criteria for Mentors:
- US-Based Nurse Practitioner or Physician Associate (those who are retired, or in academia are also encouraged to apply)
- Greater than 5 years of professional experience (preferably in clinical practice)
- Willingness to dedicate 1 hour each month to support 1-6 mentees from April – December 2024
- Access to a reliable internet connection and use of Zoom or other video conferencing technolog
Applications will be accepted through March 1, 2024 for the NP/PA mentoring program. There are a limited number of paid POCN Mentor opportunities, which require a 9-month commitment to mentor a group of up to 6 mentees.
