Heart failure and declining renal function often coexist; a bidirectional pathophysiology exists between the heart and kidneys. This can result in a vicious cycle of cardiorenal deterioration, making treatment difficult and leading to recurrent hospitalizations and even death. This review focuses on identifying new treatment strategies and biomarkers for patients with concurrent chronic kidney disease and heart failure.
