Ashley Blackmon is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner who wears many hats. She currently works full time in general cardiology, having previously spent the past 8 years in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology. She also teaches advanced pathophysiology at Georgia State University, and is serving as the State President for United Advanced Practice Registered Nurses of Georgia. Teaching at Georgia State University has also included EKG interpretation for advanced practice nurses, graduate clinical instructor roles, and undergraduate pathophysiology roles.
She has guest lectured for many schools around the state including Clayton State, Mercer University, Augusta State University, Emory University, and Middle Georgia College. Her background includes a wide range of clinical settings including outpatient pediatrics, family practice, gastroenterology, bedside ICU neuro and trauma care, as well as clinical research. She is certified in critical care and heart failure nursing. She has been nominated for Piedmont’s Advanced Practice Provider of the Year in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020. She is the lead administer for the Atlanta Nurse Practitioners Facebook Group which now proudly has over 3,800 members representing a large portion of Georgia Nurse Practitioners in networking and advocacy. She was recognized as one of Georgia State’s 40 Under 40 in 2019 for her many publications, speaking engagements, and volunteer efforts.
