A recent study conducted in Kaduna, Nigeria, over a 20-year period aimed to report the incidence, clinical presentation, severity, and associations of psoriasis, finding that the diagnosis of psoriasis was made in 0.6% of patients with new skin disease (218 out of 39,037 patients). The onset of psoriasis tended to occur earlier in females but was less severe compared to males. The most common type of psoriasis observed was plaque psoriasis (88.1%). Joint disease was only present in four patients, and other associations with psoriasis were infrequent. Overall, 80.3% of patients had mild psoriasis, and 13.2% had a family history of the disease.
