Researchers sought to determine if the effectiveness of biologic medications varies depending on race or ethnicity. The researchers conducted a systematic review of all clinical trials on biologic treatments for psoriasis from the beginning of the database until March 2021. They included studies that provided data on racial and ethnic differences in the effectiveness of biologic medications using the Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) and “clear/almost clear” scores.
The study had some limitations, including a lack of clinical trials reporting outcome data based on race or ethnicity and a shortage of patients of color in psoriasis clinical trials.
